Obama Gives Americans Low Marks for First Year
Washington, D.C., February 8, 2010
Americans are
seen in an increasingly negative light by their president,
Barack Hussein
Obama, according to a new Gallup poll, with 99%
of his fellow
citizens failing to meet his expectations.
The latest
polling of the president, conducted February 7, reveals that the
president does
not disapprove of only 1% of his countrymen, down from
the 2% he did not
disapprove of at the time of the last polling, November 11, 2008.
The results of
the poll suggest that the traditional presidential “honeymoon”—
the early,
harmonious period when a new president gives his fellow citizens
the benefit of
the doubt, however serious his misgivings about them—is over.
Of the 99% of his
fellow Americans of whom President Obama disapproves,
according to the
poll, he “Somewhat Disapproves” of 16%; “Strongly Disapproves”
of 28%, and
“Totally Disapproves” of 55%.
Of the 1% of
Americans of whom the president does not disapprove, he gave his opinion
as being “Not
Sure.”
And, according to
some experts, prospects for a resurgence in the popularity of Americans
with Mr. Obama is
poor: once the people lose the regard and good will of this president,
experts say,
there is little or no chance of them making a comeback.
The Gallup poll
surveyed one sworn-in, but un-vetted, president for a margin of error of +/-
0.0%.
